I love how negatively phrased this is. They couldn't come right out and say, well, you're a bitch, but it's definitely in there.:D

Which Harry Potter Adult Are You?

You are Sirius Black. You have a short temper, and while very intelligent, you seldom think things through. You are extremely mischievous, and brave to the point of recklessness. You're also extremely protective of the ones you love. You dwell on the past, and often hold grudges for years.

Take this quiz: Which Harry Potter Adult Are You?

little_tristan: (Bedlam)
I don't know about the rest, but it really nailed the "how other people see you" part. :D

You Are An INFJ

The Protector

You live your life with integrity, originality, vision, and creativity.

Independent and stubborn, you rarely stray from your vision - no matter what it is.

You are an excellent listener with almost infinite patience.

You have complex feelings, and you take great care to express them.

In love, you see relationships as an opportunity to connect and grow.

You enjoy relationships when they are improving and changing. You can't stand stagnation.

At work, you stay motivated and happy... as long as you are working toward a dream you support.

You would make a great photographer, alternative medicine guru, or teacher.

How you see yourself: Hardworking, ethical, and helpful

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Manipulative, weak, and unstable

Borrow from [livejournal.com profile] oasis3017!

It's international book week. The rules: Grab the closest book to you, turn to page 52, post the 5th sentence as your status. Don't mention the title. Copy the rules as part of your post.

"Whut ail Big Pearl?" Hammond demanded with an unintentional gruffness which paralyzed the child into dumbness.

For a long time now, I've been pretending that I do. It's a (mostly) happy place that is largely untouched by the outside world. We have few national resources, but our brain trust allows us to trade with America, which borders us on all four sides. This is basically what Gilead looks like:

The Independent Nation of Gilead

Population: 10
Race: 50% human, 30% feline, 20% canine
Mean Age: 30.7 years
Mean Human Age: 52.8
Mean Education Level: Some College
National Motto: There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole.
National Anthem: Move Along by The All American Rejects
National Flower: Daffodil
National Bird: Chicken
National Insect: Ladybug
National Animal: Pig
National Pest: Opossum
National Pastime: Continuing Education
National TV Show: The Big Bang Theory
Leading Profession: Mad Scientist
Head Cat: Murphy Sloane
Military Leader: Arizona "Ion" Ranger
Military Force: 50% to 60% of population
Chief Export: Robotics
Overall Mission: To outlive our enemies and retire in seclusion.

What does your country look like?

At least one happy thing for every day of the month of January!

Funny story: The alarm went off on my phone this morning, causing me to pick it up and ask Herr what was going on. I think my exact words were, "Why does this say it's Monday?" He asked why day I thought it was and I said, very hopefully, "Friday?" But alas, the phone does not lie.
As a pick me up for the crappy beginning, I spent all day reading.:D

Got to read some.:)
Caught up on LJ entries and fics up to about two days ago, which is practically current for me.:D

Got to chat with my one true [livejournal.com profile] catyah!
My friend Linda, who was my first writing colleague back when she was a grown up professional and I was a teenager no one else believed in, came over and brought me one of her books. (Bonus points for it being about her kids, whom I knew and remember fondly.) We always have a good time because she and her husband were friends with my parents, too. :)
Finally got to see 50/50, which, okay, it's about a guy with aggressive cancer, but it's really freaking funny. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up writing Kyle/Adam slash any day now.:D

Posted fic! And a couple people read it!:D
Talked to [livejournal.com profile] catyah a lot, which is always fun.:D
The boys came home in a good mood with very little work to do this weekend.
The A-N is still ignoring me.:D

More writing!
And reading! Rena's Promise is already long-listed for book of the year.
Firming things up with the new guy. He's going to start moving in this weekend, but we're not sure when he'll officially start. This is very good news since the boys came home today and informed me that, starting the second week of Feb, they'll basically be working 24 days for at least two weeks and will have to be there most of the time. I must have a guardian angel after all.
And surprise money in the mail! Which rocks when you're hiring a full-time live-in.:D

Finished a fic! Finally!
Lots of reading!

The boys are leaning strongly toward taking in the caregiver. We need to iron out some details, but they see the advantages.:)
Herr stayed home from work and made some good progress. I'm going to try hard to keep him home tomorrow, and then he might be okay.

Ranger lent her comforting presence to Herr and lay in bed with him for a while. It was very sweet. The cats were totally there for him the rest of the time.

Arch-nemesis left me entirely alone today. Also Wills, who hid upstairs with Bruder much of the day.
Started reading Rena's Promise: Two Sisters in Auschwitz, a really compelling and heartbreaking survivor memoir. It's borrowed from Amazon, but I can see myself buying it if it holds up.

Got a lot of reading done!

The street flooded most impressively, and the city got it cleaned up before any of us were inconvenienced.
Due to an eBay error (read: me ordering stuff late at night, after my meds) the two dozen socks I ordered for Herr turned out to be four dozen. So he's good on socks for a while. And I'm off the hook so far as having to place orders before bed.:D
little_tristan: (Kitten Squee)
At least one happy thing for every day of the month of January!

It almost wasn't a happy day when the arch-nemesis started a fairly frightening kitchen fire and then turned into a two year old with no idea about how to handle it and no interest in following my instructions. But. Cousin Heather sent me Steve the Scrub-o-Matic cleaning machine, and one of his friends who brought her little boys, the two cutest children in all of the Western states.
So the house is all clean and I had non-senile company, fully 50% of which wanted nothing more than to play with my firetrucks and ride around in my lap. Especially when we spun around in a tight circle at full speed until I almost threw up. Amazing how high a tolerance the 3 year old had for that.:D
And there was a book in the mail!
Also, one of the final two checks I need to close out the estate. The other can only be days away.
